Commercial Cat B office fit-out involving a helicopter lift

3 Snow Hill is a prestigious address in the heart of Birmingham’s central business district.
Heating, ventilation, cooling and plumbing systems were installed across 17 floors of this large office, award-winning (BCO Best Commercial Workplace 2022), landmark building.
This entailed large capital plant being lifted by helicopter on to the 18th floor – the first helicopter lift in Birmingham’s history.
Flying in from Cosford, an intricate inventory and logistics plan governed the 3.5 tonne-plant being airlifted on to 3 Snow Hill’s roof, early one Saturday morning. 3 Snow Hill neighbours Birmingham’s arterial, inner ring-road so there was no room for error without potentially catastrophic results.
Full-height glazing throughout the building means occupants enjoy stunning vistas over the Birmingham skyline, flooded with natural light but also mean that solar gain has to be carefully considered in the design of the heating and cooling systems.
